poecoverwebThe Shanks’ fifth studio album, “Prisons of Ecstasy”, produced by Nicke Andersson (ex-Entombed, Hellacopters, Imperial State Electric) is set for a worldwide release date of October 14th.

While the US and Canada have already become familiar with the North.American version of the album, that was released Sep. 23rd, the October 14th release heralds the “Prisons of Ecstasy” DELUXE EDITION, and the CD comes with a bonus (hidden) track. The physical and digital (iTunes only) booklet also features full lyrics and the zeitgeist tales authored by Pistolwhip von Shankenstein, founder of the Shanks.

Meanwhile, Colonel Crankshaft has also overseen design production for the Deluxe Edition, which was undertaken in Madrid by ZORDON Spain – another country The Shanks hope to conquer in 2017.

The Shanks celebrate release of “Do You Fear Me”: first single from POE!

This coming month of May, The Shanks celebrate the release of the first single from the upcoming “Prisons of Ecstasy” album. “Do You Fear Me” is the track, and May 13th is the release date.

Produced by Nicke Andersson, the new track and new album (scheduled for a September release on Here to Everywhere Records) were recorded in Sweden:

The single is to be released in two formats, the full version as well as a radio / video edit, and will be celebrated with a live show in Toronto on May 14th: new single, old friends, it’s like it’s 1996 again: The Conscience Pilate and The Dirty Water round out the stellar triple bill.

Lee’s Palace show cancelled – Tour Starts in NYC on Friday!

Greetings everyone,

We regret to inform that The Shanks’ gig with The Membranes at Lee’s Palace has been cancelled. John Robb from The Membranes explains,

“We regret to announce that despite spending £5000 and weeks of planning and work we still have not received our visas for touring the USA. We have not been turned down for visas: We have been approved for visas but the American embassy in London can’t hand them over to us until Thursday so we just cannot get to the show in Toronto.
We are still hoping to play Brooklyn on Friday.
It’s been an agonising and expensive process.
We are really unhappy about this situation. It is something that British bands have to put up with all the time now – a really expensive and shambolic process that makes it really difficult to tour the USA which makes playing Canada difficult as well. Sorry and we hope to still play as much of our tour as possible and return next spring to play Toronto. It is time to change this ridiculous system and the campaign has now started.”

The Shanks unveil “Prisons of Ecstasy” Teaser!

Founded on a farm in Mono, Ontario, Canada, in 2005 by Ian Starkey, aka St. Pistolwhip von Shankenstein XVIII, The Shanks are a blistering rock duo comprised of bass and drums, with Jody Brumell aka Colonel Crankshaft rounding out the line-up.

To commemorate The Shanks’ 10th anniversary, The Shanks are teaming up with Nicke Andersson (Imperial State Electric, ex-Hellacopters/Entombed, multi-instrumentalist and record producer) in Sweden to record what will be The Shanks’ fifth full-length studio album, working title “Prisons of Ecstasy”, engineered by Ola Elsfjord.

During this past month of May, bedtracks were recorded on tape at Stockholm’s Studio Gröndahl, with overdubs and mixing now underway at Nicke Andersson’s own studio. A mini-film teaser is now available as a sneak-peak into the recording shot and directed by Mattolavold Stockholm!
